Description

Clean, Near-Gem 1913 Double Eagle

1913 $20 MS64 PCGS. Both sides of this well-preserved double eagle are remarkably clean for the grade, with the sole mark worthy of mention being a shallow scratch in the sun on the reverse. This date saw a limited mintage of 168,700 pieces, and while MS64 coins are not rare, Gem examples are. PCGS has graded only eight examples finer than MS64 (11/07). The strike is nearly full and both sides display pleasing pink-gold color.
