1797 Silver Dollar, VF Details
B-3, BB-71, 10x6 Stars, Large Letters

1797 $1 10x6 Stars, Large Letters, B-3, BB-71, R.2 -- Cleaned -- PCGS Genuine. VF Details. Bowers Die State III. BB-71 features the 10x6 star configuration, a one-time design that resulted in the date shifted slightly too far to the left. This Draped Bust dollar features a mostly brilliant palette on the obverse with a light veil of champagne covering Liberty, while the reverse is deep-gray with lilac and sky-blue overtones. Both sides are clean, with the obverse having a bright silver iridescence, yielding nice overall eye appeal. The reported mintage for the 1797 dollar (all varieties) was only 7,776 pieces, but likely many more were struck with this date. Nonetheless, PCGS reports only eight coins in Mint State, VF-level examples are highly sought after (4/25).
