1875 $1 Indian Octagonal 1 Dollar, BG-1125, Low R.5, MS66
Prooflike NGC. The busy workshop of San Francisco jeweler
Christopher Ferdinand Mohrig was responsible for the scarce BG-1125
variety. Diagnostics include a rim die break at 12 o'clock on the
reverse, and a diagonal crack through the second L in DOLLAR. This
Premium Gem has reflective olive-green fields and radiant sun-gold
motifs. The planchet texture is partly retained on the central
reverse, struck opposite the high-relief portrait. NGC Census: 2 in
66 Prooflike, 0 finer (12/25).Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 2C3T, Variety PCGS# 811899, Base PCGS# 10936)
