Description

1855 Seated Dollar, Choice XF
Among the Rarest Issues in the Series

1855 $1 XF45 PCGS. Only 26,000 dollars were struck in 1855, and most of them were exported, melted, or lost through some other form of attrition. In terms of relative rarity, PCGS ranks the date 10th out of 45 issues in the Seated dollar series. This Choice XF survivor has light steel-gray surfaces with faint traces of golden and powder-blue patina. Sharply rendered devices display a normal degree of friction, and the only marks that merit mention are a couple of small digs below the date and the O in OF.(Registry values: N2998)
