MS64+ No L 1849 Gold Dollar
Open Wreath, Distant Stars

1849 G$1 No L MS64+ NGC. CAC. Three stars are sharply repunched, identifiers for the ephemeral No L variety. This issue was the first produced of the gold dollar denomination, if patterns dating back to 1836 are excluded. A well preserved and intricately struck near-Gem with rich canary-gold toning.
