Elusive in Finer Grades

1915-S $5 MS62 PCGS. This important half eagle has pleasing surfaces with a fully visible mintmark. Both sides exhibit olive-gold luster. A few inconsequential marks are noted, and a mark across the top headband feathers prevents a higher numerical grade. The 1915-S ranks seventh in Mint State population. It is tied for the second lowest population in MS64 and has the lowest population in Gem preservation.(Registry values: N2998)
