Description

1876-CC Double Eagle, AU50
Early State of the Dies

1876-CC $20 AU50 PCGS. Winter 3-A. This piece is in an early die state, before a squiggly die crack develops through TWENTY on the reverse. Deep orange-gold patina retains some luster in the protected portions of the fields, and light wear defines the numeric grade. The 1876-CC is often seen heavily abraded. This shows scattered surface chatter, while a vertical mark at the left side of star 13 serves as a pedigree marker. A great Carson City type coin for collectors seeking an old-time look.(Registry values: N1793)
