Description
1889 Liberty Eagle, MS61
Rare in Mint State
1889 $10 MS61 PCGS. CAC. Between 1884 and the series end,
the honor of lowest mintage issue falls to the 1889. A scant 4,440
business strikes were coined along with 45 proofs. The minimal
production may have been due to the need to strike silver dollars,
since the 1889 Philadelphia Morgan mintage exceeded 21 million
pieces, the highest of the pre-1921 type. As one might expect, the
1889 ten is rare in Mint State. This well-struck sun-gold example
has good luster and the expected smattering of small marks.
