Lovely AU 1670-A French Colonies Five Sols
1670-A 5SOL French Colonies 5 Sols AU53 PCGS. Breen-256, "Rare." Original medium gray patina covers this lightly marked and decidedly scarce silver issue. Long-reigning Louis XIV was known as the "Sun King," and it is appropriate that a small sun is depicted in the field above the king. Not fully brought up in the centers, as usual for the type. Listed on page 50 of the 2007 Guide Book.Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 2AUW, PCGS# 158627, Greysheet# 31955)
