Not Sold Description
Unsurpassed 1898 Half Dollar, PR68 Ultra Cameo
1898 50C PR68 Ultra Cameo NGC. This is a pristine, virtually black-and-white beauty with the barest hint of gold color on Liberty's cheek and the outer peripheries. The pronounced contrast and liquid mirrors in the fields clearly merit the Ultra Cameo designation assigned by NGC. A couple of luster grazes on Liberty's neck appear to be the only thing preventing an even higher grade and can serve as a pedigree identifier. Neither of the major grading services has assigned a PR69 grade to any 1898 half dollar to date, regardless of designation, and only five such coins have received a grade of PR68 with the Ultra/Deep Cameo designation. This beauty is undoubtedly destined for a top-of-the-line set of proof Barber halves.(Registry values: P1)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 24P2, PCGS# 96545, Greysheet# 6647)
