Description

1879-CC VAM-3 Morgan Dollar, MS63
'Capped Die' Top 100 Variety

1879-CC $1 Capped Die, VAM-3, MS63 PCGS. A Top 100 Variety. Large over small CC, doubled date. A late die state, as die chips around the mintmark are less prominent and the G in the motto is filled. This better-date Carson City variety is mostly brilliant with just a few tiny hints of light gold and russet on luminous, satiny surfaces. Typical weakness over the ear and on the eagle's breast feathers is noted. The cheek shows a few minor marks that define the grade, with the other devices unblemished. Eye appeal is strong.
From The Ramundo Collection of Morgan and Peace Dollars.
