Description
Gorgeous 1905 Barber Quarter, PR68
1905 25C PR68 PCGS. Based on the PCGS/NGC population figures, a relatively large number of the original proof mintage of 727 pieces is extant today, especially through the Gem level of preservation. PR66 and PR67 examples are much more challenging, and PR68 specimens are virtually unobtainable; to date, a total of four pieces have been seen by both services. This gorgeous coin displays a tantalizing mixture of teal-blue, rose, and pumpkin-orange iridescent toning that leaves small areas of near-brilliance on each side. Despite being cloaked in color, the impeccably preserved mirrored surfaces burst forth unimpeded and dazzle the viewer with their depth and peerless quality. The design elements have received a bold strike in all areas. Only a small handful of 1905 proof Quarters could possibly compete with this awe-inspiring specimen. Population: 2 in 68, 0 finer (10/06).(Registry values: N4719)
Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 242L, PCGS# 5691, Greysheet# 5501)
Weight: 6.25 grams
