Description

Key-Date 1873-CC Arrows Dime
XF Details

1873-CC 10C Arrows--Improperly Cleaned--NCS. XF40 Details. With a minuscule reported mintage of 18,791 pieces, the 1873-CC Seated Liberty, With Arrows dime is one of the keys to the series. One pair of dies was sufficient to accomplish the entire mintage. The issue is always seen with wide reeding and a die crack through the mintmark. Most examples seen have problems, and porous surfaces are common. The present coin was cleaned in the past but has retoned nicely. Smoky blue-gray color enhances both sides and helps mask several marks in the obverse field. The strike is a trifle weak on the wreath. Brian Greer considers this issue to be Low R.6 in XF-AU grades.(Registry values: N2998)
