1800 C-1, B-1 Half Cent, MS63 Red and Brown
First-Year Draped Bust Half Cent
1800 1/2 C C-1, B-1, R.1, MS63 Red and Brown PCGS. CAC. Our EAC
Grade MS62. Considerable light orange mint color appears on the
satiny olive surfaces of this Select Mint State 1800 half cent. A
few barely noticeable marks on each side blend with the surrounding
surface of this lovely piece. Partial border detail is visible on
each side.Variety: C-1, B-1. Manley Die State 4.0, usual for this variety.
Population Data (4/15): PCGS has certified 59 Mint State 1800 half cents, of which 41 are designated Brown. This piece is one of eight MS63 Red and Brown. There are just two Red examples, both also MS63.
Heritage Commentary: Cohen-1 is the first year of the Draped Bust design on half cents, and the only collectible variety of the Reverse of 1800 type with single terminal leaves at the top of each wreath branch.
