Description

Well Defined 1879-CC Dollar With DMPL Surfaces

1879-CC $1 MS62 Deep Mirror Prooflike NGC. A well struck representative that has splendid contrast between the frosty devices and the highly reflective fields. The reverse is surprisingly clean for the grade, while the obverse has light luster grazes. Freckles of honey-gold and mauve patina cling to the margins. The 1879-CC is the scarcest Carson City Morgan Dollar issue from the mint's first period of production (1870 to 1885). Unlike the lower mintage 1881-CC and 1885-CC Dollars, the 1879-CC did not turn up in vast quantities in the GSA hoard. Uncirculated examples are always available for a price, but only a scant percentage of these pieces possess deeply mirrored fields. Population: 21 in 62, 41 finer (1/05).(#97087) (Registry values: P7, N1793)
