Description
1873 G$1 Open 3 MS65 NGC. LIBERTY is slightly weak in the headdress but entirely readable, which at once sets this coin above many other high-grade representatives of the Open 3. Die clashing and a prominent bulge with die cracks in and around STATES OF do not prevent a pinpoint-sharp strike and bold motifs. Frosty mint luster swirls across the brilliant, yellow-gold surfaces. A true Gem coin, jewel-like and flashy with virtually unmarked surfaces. Census: 52 in 65 (1 in 65+, 1 in 65 ★ ), 11 finer (8/16).From The Twelve Oaks Collection.(Registry values: N1793)
