Description
Choice Mint State 1864 Gold Dollar
1864 G$1 MS64 NGC. Ex: Bareford. A small spot in the left obverse field, just above the bust tip, is clearly visible in the Bareford plate, thus confirming the pedigree. Brilliant yellow-gold surfaces exhibit satiny luster and hints of light orange toning. Although population data from PCGS and NGC are not a precise indicator of such things, this date is quite rare in Mint State grades. From The Derrick Snider Collection. Ex: Frederick W. Geiss Collection (B. Max Mehl, 2/1947), lot 1348; Harold Bareford Collection (Stack's, 12/1978), lot 47.(Registry values: N2998)
