Description

Newfoundland, 1864 1 Cent Bronze Trial, NF-18, SPECIMEN 64 Red and Brown PCGS. Ex: Norweb Collection. Ex: King Farouk Palace Collection. Impeccable definition with highly reflective fields, light-chocolate patina, and hints of blue. This is the issue that is thought to have been included in the 1864-65 Specimen sets, and as such is not truly a pattern issue. Charlton lists this piece as being struck as a Proof, not a Specimen. Except for the date, this issue appears to be identical to the adopted design. Exceedingly rare and the only example certified by PCGS.
