1817 N-1 Cent, AU55
From the Jules Reiver Collection
1817 1C 13 Stars AU55 NGC. N-1, R.4. Our EAC Grade XF40. Ex:
Mervis Collection. A late die state with advanced die cracks,
although these are somewhat obscured by rather heavy flowlines in
the fields. Deep olive-brown surfaces with some pinkish-red color
resulting from the removal of light corrosion. A small area of
raised corrosion is visible at ES of STATES. Otherwise, the
surfaces are pleasing and attractive, with only a few minor nicks
or abrasions. Although not a Condition Census coin, this lovely
copper easily ranks in among the top two dozen known examples.Ex: George Ramont; Jules Reiver (Heritage, 1/2006), lot 19697; EAC Convention (Annapolis, 5/2010).
