Description
Important 1796 With Pole Half Cent
1796 1/2 C With Pole Good 4 ANACS. C-2, B-2a, High R.5. This coin is a survivor from an original mintage of only 1,390 pieces. The 1796 has long been regarded as the key issue in the U.S. half cent series, and examples of both the No Pole and With Pole varieties are difficult to locate in any grade. This coin has some problems--the surfaces are dark, and the texture is rough with scattered pitting. Still, most of the focal features are evident, and the date is well defined. An important opportunity for the early copper specialist. EAC 4.From The Steve Glenn Collection.(Registry values: P9)
