Description
Lustrous MS66 1927-S Quarter
1927-S 25C MS66 PCGS. Ex: Chicagoland Collection. In 1927, only 396,000 quarters were struck in the San Francisco mint, making this one of the key prizes in the Standing Liberty quarter series. Examples are worth a premium in all grades and Uncirculated coins are especially rare and valuable. This is a scintillating, essentially untoned Gem that dazzles the viewer with frosty luster and nearly blemish-free surfaces. The highpoints display trivial softness on Liberty's head and portions of the shield, but all other areas are sharp and well above average for a '27-S. While not nearly as expensive as a Full Head example, one would be hard-pressed to locate a more appealing, technically superior 1927-S quarter. Population: 27 in 66, 4 finer (10/03).(#5764) (Registry values: P4, N7150)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 243W, PCGS# 5764, Greysheet# 5597)
