Also known as the Western Ganga Dynasty, the Gangas of Talakad were a ruling dynasty that was incorporated into various other kingdoms through the ages. Considered important contributors to culture and literature of the region, the Gangas of Talakad were also known for their religious affiliation to Jainsim. From 1100 to 1327 their coinage was struck under the Hoysala Kingdom, a Kannada dynasty spanning most of modern Karnataka.
