Description

George II silver "Caroline Coronation" Medal 1727 MS62 NGC, MI-480-8 (Plate CXLVIII, Number 11-12), Eimer-512. 35mm. By John Croker. As an official coronation medal, the Queen is represented between the chief objects of her affection, Religion and Britannia, notable as she displayed her conviction in the Protestant religion by refusing the hand of Charles, son of the Emperor Leopold I, when the prospects were fair of his succeeding to the kingdom of Spain and to the Empire. Glimmering pastel amber tones pool in fields, as cobalt clings to high relief devices.

Metal: Silver
