Description

Large Gold Nugget from Bendigo, Australia, 1996. The smooth-rubbed undulating form of this nugget is testament to extensive alluvial action, the natural botryoidal growths gently burnished by repeated water-tumbling. Interspersed throughout are crevices and caverns which retain a more textured appearance, appearing folded in on themselves, as though deliberately molded by the hand of nature. The whole piece is enlivened throughout by fragments and coloring from the original host iron-rock, the deep rust-red contrasting pleasantly with the bright yellow gold. This fine specimen measures approximately 3-1/8 x 2-1/8 x 1½ inches and weighs 22.62 Troy oz (over 600g). AGW 22.6200 oz.
