Attractive Late Die State Pine Tree Shilling, AU50 PCGS

1652 SHILNG Pine Tree Shilling, Large Planchet AU50 PCGS. Breen-37. Noe-1. 68.7 grains. Formerly offered as lot 5012 in our October 2001 Long Beach Sale, where it was described as, "A very attractive coin, the planchets for this variety are generally the largest of all Pine Tree Shillings. This specimen is from the late die state, as seen from the breaks on each side of the date. The tops of MAS is off the planchet on the obverse, but the reverse is well centered. Slight planchet waviness is present, as often found. This specimen would fit well into almost any collection, showing a late die state for a specialist or an attractive coin for a collector who wants just one Pine Tree Shilling for type purposes. Listed on page 37 of the 2007 Guide Book.
