Description

Philadelphia Mint Bag for 1943 Cents

Mint Bag For 1943 Cents. The significance of this bag, of course, is that it held $20 worth of 1943 cents, coins that are an essential one-year type. These pieces were struck in zinc-coated steel for this one year only in order to conserve copper for the war effort. The canvas bag has the mint imprint on one side: CENTS / $20 / U.S. MINT / Philadelphia. / 1943. The bag measures 5.5 x 13.5 inches. Slightly soiled, as one would expect. While this may not be a unique item, we wouldn't have any idea where to find another.
