MACEDON. Under Roman Rule. First Meris (Province). Ca. 167-149 BC. AR tetradrachm (29mm, 16.99 gm, 9h).  Draped bust of Artemis right, wearing stephane, bow and quiver over far shoulder, in tondo of Macedonian shield adorned with double crescents, stars, and pellets / ΜΑΚΕΔΟΝΩΝ ΠPΩΤΗΣ, horizontal club, all within oak wreath with ties to left, vertical thunderbolt to left of ties, AP monogram above. SNG Ashmolean 3290-3292. Remarkably deep strike, producing sculptural high relief! Good Extremely Fine.
