L. Cupiennius (ca. 147 BC). AR denarius (18mm, 3.77 gm, 12h). NGC Choice Fine 5/5 - 3/5, brushed. Rome. Head of Roma right, wearing triple pendant earing, necklace, and winged helmet surmounted by griffin crest; cornucopia behind, X (mark of value) below chin, all within dotted border / L•CVP (VP in ligate), Dioscuri on horseback galloping right, each with couched spear and wearing pileus surmounted by star; ROMA in exergue, all within a linear border.
