Description

1793 S-6, B-7 Wreath Cent, Fine Details
Struck on a Obverse Brockage

1793 1C Wreath, Vine and Bars -- Struck on Obverse Brockage, Environmental Damage -- NGC Details. Fine. S-6, B-7, R.3. Our EAC Grade Good 5. Although the variety is R.3, this piece is likely unique as a Mint error. Evidence of the obverse brockage is present, although hardly plain. Incuse dentils from the brockage are evident at the upper left reverse with additional evidence behind STATES. Both sides of this pleasing chocolate and olive-brown cent exhibit numerous field marks, and the reverse has an old bisecting scratch. We find no mention of this coin in Walter Breen's Large Cent Encyclopedia. The impressive Dan Holmes Collection of Large Cent Errors had no 1793 cent errors.
From The Adam Mervis Large Cent Collection.
