Sharp XF Details 1796 B-2 Quarter
1796 25C --Repaired--NCS. XF Details. B-2, R.3. The High 6 variant is much more plentiful than its Low 6 (B-1, R.5) cousin. Sharply detailed with strong and complete obverse and reverse borders. However, the central reverse is weakly defined as usual, with the eagle's body and head both flat. Light gray surfaces are covered in later blue and iridescent toning, over microscopically rough surfaces. The nature of the repair is not pinpointed, although there is no doubt that the surfaces, and possibly the designs, have been altered or enhanced in some manner. The wise bidder will want to examine this coin very carefully prior to the auction to determine a suitable value.(Registry values: P7)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 23RA, PCGS# 5310, Greysheet# 5056)
