Description

Ex. Pittman & Belzberg Specimen 64 1932 50 Cents

George V Specimen 50 Cents 1932 SP64 PCGS, Royal Canadian mint, KM25a. The rarest of all George V Specimen 50 Cents, this special piece has impeccable provenance from two of the finest Canadian collections. From our January 2003 sale of the Sid and Alica Belzberg Collection, where it was described, "Ex: John Jay Pittman Collection. Boldly struck with satiny/matte surfaces as seen on many George V Specimens of this era. Multicolored toning with a few tiny marks consistent with the grade. A very elusive date, in Specimen, in all denominations. To date, no 25 Cent coins have surfaced and only one 10 Cent coin. A couple of Gem 5 Cent coins have surfaced recently but no small Cents are known. These facts, along with the extreme rarity of this issue, make the 50 Cent piece a most important coin. There are two other pieces known but both are impaired." An extreme rarity, and the single finest of only three pieces certified in Specimen by PCGS.
