Kiangnan. Kuang-hsü 5 Cents ND (1897) MS63 PCGS, KM-Y141, L&M-214B. Fully choice, the present example of this very scarce type displays a level of refinement and originality rarely matched. The luster is full, yet appears silky and delicate due to the silver patina which has developed over the years. The strike is impressive for the type as well, leaving no important details unrealized. As a point of numismatic interest, we can also match the small obverse die breaks, none distracting, to at least one other example that has sold in recent years, thus tying this particular piece to their shared origin. All stated, a beautiful coin that deserves a central position in its future owner's cabinet.
