1872 1C PR66 Red NGC. Snow-PR1....
Description
1872 Indian Cent, PR66 Red
Among the Finest Non-Cameo Examples
1872 1C PR66 Red NGC. Snow-PR1. Bold N in ONE. The 1872 is a
sought-after semikey in the circulation strike Indian Head series,
and high-grade full Red coins command a distinct premium. Likewise,
1872 high-grade proofs are rare, especially those with fully
reflective Red surfaces such as those possessed by this Premium Gem
example. Strike sharpness only found on proof coins complements
attractive red and green-gold color. No surface contact is apparent
to the naked eye or when viewed under a loupe. Exactly three
pinpoint carbon flecks are seen and a minor planchet flake, equally
tiny, exists between O and N of ONE. Excellent eye appeal remains
intact throughout both sides of this memorable proof. The NGC
census has not changed in more than 15 years, showing three proofs
in 66 Red, and none finer. NGC also reports a single PR67 Red Deep
Cameo example (9/25).Ex: The Estate of Robert R. Rollins Collection, Part One / Long Beach Signature (Heritage, 5/2008), lot 2379.(Registry values: N7079)
