Large Eagle, Baker-15
1791 CENT Washington Large Eagle Cent MS64+ Brown PCGS.
Baker-15, W-10610, Musante GW-15, R.2. Walter Breen in his 1988
Encyclopedia credits then-teenager John Gregory Hancock as
the engraver of the 1791 Washington cents. Listed on page 83
of the 2020 Guide Book. They were struck by the private
Westwood Mint in Birmingham, England, in an attempt to secure an
American coinage contract. This handsome near-Gem is unabraded and
semiprooflike. The chestnut-brown surfaces show peripheral hints of
brick-red and forest-green, along with a few tiny flecks on the
upper right reverse. Population: 29 in 64 (1 in 64+) Brown, 8 finer
