1870 Nickel, Cameo Superb Proof
Tied for Finest Certified
1870 5C PR67 Cameo NGC. Almost all proof 1870 Shield nickels
show planchet problems. This piece has slight granularity that is
faintly visible with magnification, but almost all trace has been
polished away leaving deeply mirrored fields on each side. The
devices are nicely frosted, presenting a noticeable Cameo effect on
both obverse and reverse. Both sides are bright, nearly brilliant
with just the faintest streaks of golden, again requiring a
