Description

1833 Bust Dime, Splendid MS66
Brilliant JR-5, Last 3 High

1833 10C Last 3 High, JR-5, R.1, MS66 PCGS. Ten die marriages produced the reported 485,000-piece 1833 dime mintage. Eight of those die pairs show the date numerals arranged in a level manner, while two varieties show the final 3 in the date entered too high. This High Last 3 example is JR-5 variety, which is readily available in most grades, but becomes rare in Gem or finer grades. Only a handful of JR-5 coins have achieved the MS66 grade. This is a brilliant and frosted MS66 example displaying sparkling mint luster and a needle-sharp strike. For Capped Bust dime collectors or high-grade type coin specialists, this blaze-white coin serves as an ultimate objective -- not to be missed. PCGS Population (Last 3 High varieties): 4 in 66, 1 finer (2/25).
