Umberto I gold 50 Lire 1891-R MS61+ Prooflike NGC, Rome mint, KM25, Fr-20, Pag-574. A standout series rarity owing to mintage numbering only 414 examples, the lowest for the nonconsecutive three-year issue produced in 1884, 1888, and 1891. While we have encountered both of the earlier dates, this is the first example of the third and final issue that we have seen, made yet more impressive by its high-end preservation and added Prooflike designation. The offering comes within a point of the finest certified by NGC to date across both PL and MS designations, featuring needle-sharp devices and clear mirror reflectivity, which reveals only scattered friction throughout to preclude finer certification.Metal: Gold
