Description

1862 Half Dime, MS68+
Superior Quality, Tied for Finest

1862 H10C MS68+ PCGS. The 1862 Seated half dime is one of the more frequently seen dates of the 1860s in all grades, but at the incredible MS68 grade level this issue is unquestionably rare. This piece is one of only eight so-graded examples at PCGS (8/20), and we suspect there is significant duplication in that population data. In the Legend Obverse series of half dimes, there are only 20 pieces certified in MS68 (minus resubmissions) and this is the only Plus-certified MS68 by PCGS, making it a must-have for the Registry collector. The strike is bold and the fields display modest semiprooflikeness. Soft rainbow peripheries provide a lovely frame for the brilliant centers.
