Description

1794 Talbot, Allum & Lee / Birmingham Mule
W-8665, MS64 Red and Brown

1794 1/2 P Talbot, Allum & Lee Mule, Birmingham Halfpenny Reverse, MS64 Red and Brown PCGS. Breen-1040, W-8665, High R.4. Struck with the die of the W-8580 Talbot, Allum & Lee obverse paired with a 1793 Birmingham halfpenny die. The reverse pictures a boy standing by a vertical screw press, possibly intended to be a coinage press. This is one of the more plentiful Talbot, Allum & Lee mules known, but it is still scarce in all grades. This Choice Mint State example is well-struck, with well-balanced copper-red and auburn-brown hues over each side. Population: 3 in 64 Red and Brown, 0 finer (7/15).
