1859-O Half Dollar, MS66+
Vibrant Color and Luster
Only One Coin Finer

1859-O 50C WB-101, Die Pair 11, R.3, MS66+ PCGS. CAC. Half dollar production at the New Orleans Mint continued apace in 1859, with an output totaling 2.8 million coins. Mint State survivors are generally available, usually in MS62-MS63 grades, but even those coins are hardly common. The 1859-O is a formidable rarity in high-end Premium Gem condition. This Plus-graded, CAC-endorsed representative ranks as one of the finest obtainable examples. Vibrant mint luster shines through iridescent sea-green, powder-blue, lavender, and gold patina. This CAC-endorsed example is strongly defined with softness limited to several obverse stars. At this grade, this is a must-have Registry candidate. PCGS Population (all varieties): 2 in 66+, 1 finer. CAC: 5 in 66, 0 finer (8/25).
