Description

1883 Cent, CAC'd MS67 Red
Stunning Top-Grade Rarity

1883 1C MS67 Red PCGS. CAC. Full Red Indian cents, regardless of date, tend to congregate around the MS64 and MS65 grade levels. Lower-grade pieces are more likely to show toning, removing them from the Red category, while higher-grade Red pieces are rare by inherent being, these being the victims of attrition and time more so than other representatives of the date. For the 1883 Indian cent, Red coins appear with some regularity in the context of the series, but the afore-described grade phenomenon holds true: the 1883 is plentiful in MS65 Red, but borderline rare in MS66 Red, and it survives by just a few pieces in MS67 Red. The current CAC coin, then, is a top Registry candidate and a rarity as well. Glistening, frosty copper-red and golden hues adorn pristine surfaces, with no distracting spots or notable abrasions. A sharp strike also prevails throughout each side. Population: 8 in 67 (2 in 67+) Red, 0 finer. CAC: 6 in 67, 0 finer (1/25).(Registry values: N4719)
