WB-104, Open Bud, Repunched 6
Only One Finer Among All Varieties at PCGS
1876 50C Open Bud, Repunched Date, WB-104, MS66 PCGS. The
lower loop of a repunched 6 is visible between the primary 76 in
the date, and the coin is struck from clashed dies. The reverse is
the Open Bud Type One. This Premium Gem example is immensely frosty
and well-struck with splashes of orange-gold, lavender, and
olive-green over otherwise champagne-tinted luster. It is likely
the finest WB-104 at either service. Population (all varieties
combined): 10 in 66 (2 in 66+), 1 finer (2/18).Coin Index Numbers: (Variety PCGS# 572237, Base PCGS# 6352)
