Description

1850 1C N-7, R.2, MS66 Red and Brown NGC. The small die lump below the jaw is characteristic of Newcomb-7. Both sides display copious orange-red color, although steel-gray shades on the portrait and nearby field preclude a full Red designation. This lustrous high-grade Mature cent type coin exhibits well-struck centers, though the dentils are softly impressed. Unabraded, and carbon is limited to a few flecks beneath star 1. Our EAC grade MS63.
