B-5, BB-27, Three Leaves
1795 $1 Flowing Hair, Three Leaves, B-5, BB-27, R.1, VF30
NGC. Bowers Die State II. Even dove-gray toning deepens
slightly at the perimeters of this minimally marked B-5, BB-27
early dollar. The diagnostic die scratch or "bar" in the left
obverse field provides instant attribution for this popular Three
Leaves variety. Light-gray raised devices contrast against the
smooth fields for bold eye appeal. Perhaps more than 100,000 coins
were struck by the BB-27 die pair, from which several thousand
pieces survive. Few can compare with this example at the VF30
