Description

1855-O Arrows Half Dollar, MS65
Conditionally Scarce New Orleans Type Coin

1855-O 50C Arrows, WB-101, Die Pair 5, R.3, MS65 PCGS Secure. Only a few weak die cracks define this Wiley-Bugert variety, including a radial crack near star 9 that runs through the corner of the cap to Liberty's wrist. Another radial die crack runs across star 13 into the field toward the knee. This is a brilliant, frosted Gem with faint glimmers of pale-gold. The strike is weak on Liberty's hair and the stars surrounding the gown line, and at the opposing arrow fletchings and eagle's leg on the reverse, although the coin is sharp elsewhere. Marks and abrasions are nearly nonexistent. Population: 22 in 65 (1 in 65+), 10 finer (6/18).
