Description
Scarce 1796 C-2 With Pole Half Cent, VF Details
1796 1/2 C With Pole--Rim Damage--NCS. VF Details. C-2, B-2, R.4. With an accompanying envelope indicating that this coin once traded as a VF for $350. Smooth dark brown surfaces are slightly lighter on the devices. A few trivial marks are noted on each side, with minor rim bruises that are mostly inconsequential. This piece is quite pleasing overall, and far finer than the usual example that appears in the numismatic arena. The new Copper Quotes guide gives a value of $40,000 for Fine 12 with average surfaces. A number of higher-grade With Pole pieces exist, perhaps a dozen or so examples in AU or better. A similar number of VF and XF coins follow the higher-grade coins in the census. EAC 10.From The Collection of a Dallas Gentleman.(Registry values: P9)
