Description

Leopold I gold 100 Francs 1853 AU58 NGC, Brussels mint, KM-XM3.1, Fr-409, Dupriez-529 (R3). Hyphen between dates variety. Mintage: 482. By L. Wiener. Struck to commemorate the marriage of the Duke and Duchess of Brabant. A simple design yet bold in strike and presentation, this alluring example exhibits the usual cabinet friction, including some minor rim bumps. Some russet shading around the legends makes the sharp, honey-toned devices even more pronounced. This is a wholesome representative for the grade and more attractive than some Mint State examples we've handled.
