Great Britain: Royal College of Physicians gold "William Baly" Medal 1861-Dated (1909) MS63 Deep Prooflike NGC,
Description
Royal College of Physicians gold "William Baly" Medal 1861-Dated (1909) MS63 Deep Prooflike NGC, BHM-2707, Eimer-1545. 58mm. 104gm. Awarded to Emil Fischer in 1909 for Chemistry. Hermann Emil Louis Fischer (1852-1919) was a German chemist and 1902 recipient of the Nobel Prize in Chemistry. He discovered the Fischer esterification whilst also developing the Fischer projection, a symbolic way of drawing asymmetric carbon atoms. Some die deterioration is present in the legends as well as the usual contact marks one would expect to see on such a large high-relief gold medal, otherwise charmingly preserved with deeply reflective fields.Metal: Gold
Diameter: 58mm
