1859 Indian Cent in Copper-Nickel
Judd-228, MS64+

1859 P1C Indian Cent, Judd-228, Pollock-272, R.1, MS64+ PCGS. CAC. Ex: Simpson. A popular transitional pattern with the Indian head obverse of 1859 and the shield reverse of 1860. Struck in copper-nickel with a plain edge. Rick Snow writes that 10 to 20 proofs and 1,000 coins in circulation-strike format were produced. This near-Gem is highly lustrous and strongly struck with coppery bronze-gold color. Violet accents are present within the design recesses. Only the right corner of the shield shows trivial softness, and a speck of aqua residue occurs in upper loop of the second S in STATES.
