Description

1662 Oak Tree Twopence, AU50
Noe-30, Partial Mint Luster

1662 Oak Tree Twopence, Small 2, AU50 PCGS. Noe-30, W-240, Salmon 1-A, R.4. The Oak Tree twopence was dated 1662, instead of the 1652 date usual from the Boston Mint. There are several similar varieties, but Noe-30 has a small 2 with a long tail and no parallel break above. This gunmetal-gray representative displays glimpses of luster about design elements. The oval-shaped piece appears moderately off-center toward 6 o'clock on the obverse, and somewhat off-center toward 10 o'clock on the reverse. No marks are consequential, there are no flan detractions, and the eye appeal is pleasing. Listed on page 33 of the 2022 Guide Book.
